Three places in one municipality
Mijas stretches from the Mediterranean up to the Sierra de Mijas, with around 12 km of coastline. Most people who say they live "in Mijas" live in one of three quite different settings:
- Mijas Pueblo, the historic white village at about 430 m, around 8 km from the beach.
- La Cala de Mijas, a beach town on the coast with a 3 km beach and a boardwalk.
- Mijas Costa, the coastal strip of urbanisations between Fuengirola and Marbella, such as Riviera del Sol and Calahonda.

Mijas Pueblo: village life with views
Traditional Andalusian streets, museums, restaurants and panoramic views over the coast. The trade-off is the drive: you will use the car for the beach and most errands, and the village is busier with day visitors in high season.
La Cala de Mijas: the beach on your doorstep
A long sandy beach, a Saturday market, dozens of restaurants and international schools nearby. It suits people who want to walk to everything and live there all year. Homes right on the front are scarcer and priced accordingly.
Mijas Costa: choice and value
Riviera del Sol and Calahonda offer apartments and townhouses in communities with pools, shops and bus connections, usually at the lowest entry prices in Mijas. They are practical bases for families and for buyers thinking about rentals.
